Achtwyn Rite - Ancestor Night

ALL – Everyone will be given the opportunity to write their prayers / thoughts to their ancestors / resolutions / key words that promote wanted change and/or growth, etc. well before the ritual begins. (Paper and writing utensils will be provided.) Everyone will be reminded to have them (on their person) before they enter Sacred Space.
ACHTWYN RITE begins:
ALL – (Facing outward, or away from the fire...) All join hands and raise them up high. (To cast the circle. While hands are raised...)
- Godi says:
In a time, that is not a time...In a place, that is not a place…On a day, that is not a day...We stand upon the Threshold of the Veil of Mysteries! We stand as a circle...Our circle is cast! So Mote It Be!
SABBAT CALLING – (All joined, are still “circled”, holding hands…)
{Each Sabbat Caller taps his/her Sabbat Staff upon the ground three times; then “sings” the “sabbat-name” associated with their direction.} NW starts…
North-West – S-A-M-H-A-I-N
North – Y-U-L-E
North-East – I-M-B-O-L-C
East – O-S-T-A-R-A
South-East – B-E-L-T-A-N-E
South – L-I-T-H-A
South-West – L-U-G-H-N-A-S-A-D-H
West – M-A-B-O-N
{Each Sabbat Caller continues to “sing” their Sabbat, (eventually all will be “singing” or “calling” in unison)...until...1st drum-beat is sounded – STOP.
(All Sabbat Callers then turn and face the fire…) 2nd drum beat is sounded… Sabbat Callers move with staffs to the fire.
MAKING THE ACHTWYN –
Once at the fire...Sabbat Callers raise their staffs and hold them out directly across from each other, over the fire. Each Sabbat Caller will hold the bottom-end of the staff of the Sabbat Caller directly across from them. Once in position...the 3rd drum beat is sounded.
- Godia invites the Ancestors:
Say what you will; offer food and drink through the ‘Achtwyn’ and into the fire.
- Godi says:
Talk about the Year-Wheel as a living organism. Explain what it means to “live” the Year-Wheel.
Now is the time to offer your words and your hearts...Through the Achtwyn...Through the Veil!
- Everyone then offers their “papers” to the fire…..
Once completed: An appropriate pause will follow. 4th drum beat is sounded to mark the end.
MAKING THE “ALL-WHEEL” –
Each Sabbat Caller ‘spreads apart’ their staff and the bottom of the other Caller’s staff (about shoulders’ width apart)...So, a staff in each hand. Once in position...Each Sabbat Caller (starting with NW – Samhain and ending with NW – Samhain) then says:
I am insert Sabbat-Name here!
Once complete...the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th drum beat is sounded…
- Godia then says:
In a time, that is not a time...In a place, that is not a place…On a day, that is not a day...We stand upon the Threshold of the Veil of Mysteries! We stand as a circle...Open, but never broken!
So Mote It Be!
ACHTWYN RITE is completed .
