Stone of the Week: Kyanite

Kyanite is most noted for its blue "corn flour" colour, from which the stone derives its name. However, this stone also comes in colour variations, such as: white, grey, bluish-grey, to a light greenish-grey. This is the perfect stone for the novice, as well as the seasoned necromancer; as this stone never requires cleansing, clearing, or charging…it just is what it is. Thus, it never accumulates unwanted (negative) energies, and has an unlimited source of energy. This ability may reside in the fact this stone is of two different hardnesses, contained in the same crystal. This anomaly is very rare in the stone world. The vertical grains of the stone make it a 7 on the hardness scale, while the horizontal graining make the stone about a 4 on the hardness scale. Kyanite truly is two stones in one. And so, this stone’s primary value has always been that of attunement.

Kyanite is the patron stone of the third eye, and the throat chakras. It promotes: relaxation, healing (of all kinds), psychic awareness, creativity, dissipates boundaries, dreamscaping, empathic understanding (and sensitivity), enhances communication (between both animals and people), a better sense of smell, the ability to hear more clearly, alignment, and attunement.

If Kyanite is worn around the neck, the wearer will find it easier to speak and/or sing publicly. This stone is also beneficial in the learning of new languages, and warding off illnesses of the throat – to include cancer.

Stone of the Week: Emerald

Emerald is an ancient stone long revered for its magickal properties, its colour, and its beauty. It may be dark green to a pale greenish-blue; from clear as glass to an opaque solid. Emerald represents the layers of time: from the physical, to the ethereal, and to the astral as well. It focuses living in the “now” – while navigating through the connections of the past, and making the future what the wearer manifests. The Emerald facilitates communication with otherworldly beings, and teaches us that time is not a barrier, but rather, an access point.
Sacred stone of the planet Venus, this stone amplifies sexual arousal and sacred sexual connections. It is said that if one lover gives the other this stone, it will fade or crack if either strays from their sacral bonds. Thus, the Emerald has been a popular stone amongst royalty for ages.
Worn as an amulet this stone (in its natural state) will protect the wearer from violence, abuse, and rape. As well, the stone helps facilitate healing from these traumatic experiences. It is said to help women past menopause achieve a higher state of psychic awareness, and magickal abilities.
Emerald is the amplifier, developer, and maintainer of the psyche, strength, love, wisdom, happiness, creativity, memory, communication, magickal being, self-awareness, and time.

Stone of the Week: Bloodstone

Bloodstone is a green stone with red flecks. (However, sometimes these flecks may also be black, silver, yellow, and/or a different shade of green from the primary stone.) Bloodstone belongs to the chalcedony family, and is a quartzite. Bloodstone’s primary purpose is to eliminate fear and anger, allowing the wearer to experience raw courage. It opens blockages of the body, and cleanses all major organs. Excellent in the treatment of those with blood disorders and/or diseases. It is the favored stone of women with troubled pregnancies, or those with complications in labor. Bloodstone allows the wearer to unlock both the physical, and spiritual doorways. Thus, it is extremely effective in connecting, and communicating with one’s own blood ancestors.
